Business Update: June

Well, I have been pursuing this business for a little over a month now, and SO much has happened. Lots of decision making and hard work. Setting boundaries and battling with myself. It has been a lot, but it has made me so much better as a professional and as a person. Here is a breakdown of the last month for me.

A bit of backstory

Before beginning all of this, I was working toward a degree in graphic design. I actually went to my local community college before transferring to a four year school, and I LOVED my experience there. I felt like I was learning so much and gaining so much confidence. It was exactly what I needed. It was challenging and so fun. I LOVED the people that I met there and overall had an awesome time. I got my Associate’s degree with a focus in graphic design and transferred to a four year school. This is where I started to feel like things were off.

It was the beginning of COVID and I was THRIVING while learning remotely. I loved being able to work at my own pace and in my own space. It was the best. However, I had a few classes on campus and I was STRUGGLING. They were the classes for my major and I was so confused as to why they were the ones that I enjoyed the least. Halfway through my first semester I realized that I really was not in the right place. I called my mom SOBBING because it was just so awful. She told me that I didn’t have to keep myself miserable, and I decided I would never be doing that again. So, I decided I would take the next semester off—but really I had the intention of not returning. And I didn’t.

The first month

I found the virtual assistant world and knew it was the right move for me. I felt called to help others in a deeper way than I could with the design world, and becoming a virtual assistant is combining so many things that I love and enjoy!

So, I spent the month of May researching and getting my feet wet. I started my instagram page. I built a website. I built another website (that is a story for another day). I spent all day googling and signing up for all the free resources I could. I brainstormed and made decisions day in and day out. I set goals for myself, I invested in my business.

Basically, I did a lot of things. I taught myself a lot of things. I also realized that I could use some help. So, I invested in a masterclass. It was so helpful to have professionals talk through everything that is really important. I feel so confident in my abilities to move forward after the class! It showed me all of the things that I would have never found on my own, and tied everything together.

Results

Along with all of my hard work, came my first few clients! I have two so far—along with a few short term projects—and am getting ready for a few discovery calls. It has been such a blessing to see my hard work start to pay off. I am so ready to help others, and genuinely can’t wait to be able to help more!! I have gotten to a point where it's pretty much I either give up or push forward and choose to continue to work towards this. I feel committed to this. I really truly believe in the services that I provide and their value. I know and trust that I am where I am meant to be. Anyways, thanks for reading, it is so good to check in! I really feel like this is the right path for me, and can’t wait to provide the valuable service to others that I know I am capable of! Catch me in the future registering my LLC and moving toward the up and up!
